Take measures to prevent the disease

In front is the holy Eid-ul-Azha, meaning the Eid of Sacrifice. And after a few days, the farmers will take the sacrificial animals to the market to sell. They wait for this time throughout the year. But a disease of cattle has come and worried the farmers. The name of the disease is ‘Lumpy Skin’.

The disease has already spread to villages in Tangail. Farmers are facing the risk of losses due to the disease. Because, the beauty of cow skin is lost due to this disease, people do not want to buy that cow then.

Lumpy skin is basically a viral disease. The disease is usually transmitted from one cow to another through mosquitoes, flies and food at the end of summer and beginning of monsoon. Due to this disease, the body of the cow becomes swollen like small flesh. Water falls from the eyes, even the eyes can become blind.

Infertility occurs in bulls and abortions in pregnant animals. Many of us are familiar with the name of cow hoof disease. According to the people concerned, this ‘lumpy skin’ is more terrible than that hoof disease. According to Prothom Alo , farm and marginal farmers are flocking to the livestock department and veterinary hospital or village doctor every day with infected cows in Tangail.

A resident of a village in Sadar upazila said that most of the cows in the village have been infected with the disease. Some people have to pay Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 for treatment as two or three cows have been infected. According to local veterinarians, more drugs for lumpy skin disease have been sold in the last month and a half than at any other time. Although many cows are healthy, wounds remain on the body.

Due to the effect of the disease, there is a feeling of drowsiness in the cows, besides

Sadar Upazila Livestock Hospital authorities said that although there is no official vaccine for the disease, it is given at the private level. Every day treatment is being given from this hospital. In addition, work is being done at the marginal level to raise awareness.

Not only in Tangail, but also in other districts of the country, farmers and farmers should be made aware of this disease. We think that if the government can provide vaccination against this disease, it will be beneficial for them to deal with the crisis.
